Have you ever been kissed by Lolita?
I have. A couple of times actually.
Both were very good.
The first was on my birthday, for a late, raucous dinner, while the second was a more casual lunch affair.
Yep, she’s versatile.

From the outside, Lolita’s Taperia looks a bit like a cool fast-food joint. It’s got punchy red signage, with simple tables lining the pavement and bar stools looking directly through a hatch into the kitchen.
But as you go in, it’s a bit like entering the restaurant equivalent of a teenage boy’s bedroom – piles of dirty laundry aside.
A TV plays old cartoons, a skateboard hangs precariously and bands names from NIRVANA to DAFT PUNK scream from the walls.
And of course – there’s loads of kissing going on.
Lolita’s lips pout from the walls, napkins and back of every staff uniform.
At lunchtime, it’s mildly cheeky, whilst come evening, the lights dip low, the music swells high and all it all becomes more of a tapas party.

The food here isn’t super cheap – and some of the portions are a touch on the delicate side – so if you're planning on trying everything, then just be prepared to give your credit card a bit of a spanking.
There’s all your classic canned fare, everything swimming in something salty, plus other more casual dishes like the calamari – served in a lip-smackered paper cone – or a whole section of stuff on crunchy bread.
The salmon toast (€5) is my personal fave from here, served in a slick of truffled honey.

If you want to up the ante, then classic dishes like the orientally spiked tuna loin (€10.50) sit alongside mini burgers and pork ribs.
But my most gorgeous, guilty pleasure has to be the chicken dippers (€9) – coated in a batter of crunchy, light-as-air fried potatoes and looking like a stack of something almost pre-historic. It’s Lolita’s special recipe, so you won’t have tried anything quite like it.
Lolita’s Taperia can be whatever you want it to be.
Restaurant, bar, vermuteria, bistro…club? Who knows. You decide.
So pucker up and have a good time! I assure you it’ll be a kiss to remember.END
